Moose-Jaw is a class D airport.
The 10nm control zone (D) has a very odd shape with the top quarter cut off due to the close proximity of the Regina TCA and airport. It extends to 8000 ASL and is surrounded by a Terminal Control Area (TCA) extending up to FL300 which also has a very irregular shape.
The TCA is a class D transponder airspace below 12,500, and B then A above that.
Note that this airport is operated by the Canadian Air Force. Special miliraty procedures apply. Visit cfc.ivao.ca for more information.

All IFR clearances must be requested from the Moose Jaw Terminal controller who will co-ordinate with Winnipeg ACC when required.
The Moose Jaw 4 (M4) Standard Instrument departure is available for all departing IFR traffic. Maximum altitude for flights to Regina is 6000ft.
Squawk codes
Standard ground procedures apply. Ground control all taxiways as well as the aprons. Taxiway B between runways 11L and 11R are restricted to locally based Harvard, Hawks and Snowbirds aircraft.
Runway configurations
There are no runway configurations at Moose-Jaw but take note that 11R/29L and 03/21 do not have an ILS.
Departures
The Moose JawTerminal has the responsibility of ensuring the initial separation and release of IFR traffic, therefore a release must be requested from the Terminal controller sector for each IFR departure. If Moose Jaw Terminal is not online request release from Winnipeg ACC.
On Departure IFR traffic is handed to "Moose Jaw Departures" with the take-off clearance.
Arrivals
Though it is a responsibility of the Arrival controller to provide the appropriate separation between successive arrivals on final approach, responsibility for spacing between arriving aircraft is transferred to the Tower automatically once the aircraft crosses the Final Approach Fix (FAF).
With the use of radar the Tower assumes control of arrivals at the FAF regardless of the weather conditions. See MANOPS section 362.5 for the proper control transfer procedures. If using IvAi in conjunction with FS to operate a visual tower viewpoint you may decrease the 3 nm separation of aircraft on final provided both aircraft are in sight. Aircraft conducting visual approaches in accordance with MANOPS section 566 and 567 are responsible for maintaining their own separation.
On Arrival traffic will be handed off to Tower once established on the approach, at or slightly before the FAF.
VFR traffic
Arrivals
VFR traffic will be transferred to tower prior to entering the control zone.Departures
Assign a maximum altitude of 4,000 feet to all VFR departures. A higher altitude may be requested from Terminal.
Arrival technique
Arrivals from all directions except from the north will be routed direct YMJ VOR for vectors and will be cleared to 10'000 feet, or as requested. Arrivals from the North will be on a vector to keep them close to where they need to be for the turn to final and cleared to 6000ft. Winnipeg Centre or Regina Terminal will hand off aircraft to "Moose-jaw Terminal" on 119.00 prior to entering the TCA.
Avoid descending non-straight-in traffic below 6000ft until clear of the departures end of the runway to avoid potential conflicts with departing traffic, which will be climbing to 5000ft.
Departure technique
Be cautious when vectoring departing and arriving traffic to avoid conflicts created by altitude - or lack thereof. There are no pre-determined techniques at any airports, but the terminal controller is responsible for spacing along the airways. Departures to Regina will not be permitted above 6000ft.
Clear all departures to FL300 or flight planned altitude, whichever is lower. Transfer departures to the North-West, West, South and South-East to Broadview (DR), and departures the North and East go to Regina (QR) TCU.
Clear aircraft direct a waypoint further along the route whenever possible, after co-ordinating with Winnipeg ACC.
