Vancouver Area Control Centre procedures

Procedures

Airspace

The Vancouver Area Control Centre (ACC) is responsible for all airspace in the Vancouver FIR, excluding that of Comox MTCA, Victoria Terminal and Vancouver Terminal when those units are in operation.

A large portion of the airspace covers the Rocky Mountains, which results in exceptionally high MEAs and MRVAs. Be very attentive to the minimum safe altitudes when vectoring traffic, and remember there is no radar coverage in the tighter valleys, so radar vectors below 15'000 are generally not available.

Squawk codes

  • Internal flights (flights remaining within the Vancouver FIR): 5501-5547
  • External flights (flights leaving the Vancouver FIR): 0701-0747

SFI Codes

Use the following SFI codes when appropriate.

Vancouver/Victoria Terminal Arrivals

L All aircraft landing CYVR on runway 08L, 26L
R All aircraft landing CYVR on runway 08R, 26R
N All aircraft landing CYVR on runway 12, 30
S VFR aircraft operating on CYVR runway 26A
V All aircraft landing in CYYJ
A All aircraft landing in CYXX
N All aircraft landing in CYCD
