Vancouver Flight Information Region

Vancouver is home of the 2010 Winter Olympics!

The Vancouver FIR is made up of the airspace above the central and southern part of British Columbia.

The Vancouver FIR lies above some of Canada's most challenging terrain; namely the Rocky Mountains.

The busiest airport of the FIR is Vancouver International, which is also Canada's gateway to the Pacific. But we mun't forget the countless airports nesteled withing the Rockies, with approach procedures that really test a pilot's flying skill - and a controller's knowledge of local terrain.

In the menu on the left you will find information and procedures for controlling or flying within the FIR, charts for the local airports, sector files, and other resources. Unfortunately the Vancouver FIR has no chief, so information available is highly limited. If you require further information please contact the ATC Operations co-ordinator.

We hope you enjoy your visit to Canada's west coast – the Vancouver FIR.
