CFB Bagotville procedures

Airspace

Bagotville airport is a class D airport. The 10nm control zone (D) extends to 6000ft ASL.

The airport lies within the Bagotville TCA, which also Chicoutimi / St. Honoré.
The TCA extends to FL280 and is class D and E transponder airspace below 12'500ft, then B and finally A above that. (See VFR terminal chart)

Frequencies

Sector ID Radio Callsign Frequency Airspace
CYBG_APP Bagotville Terminal 127.2 The Bagotville MTCA, as depicted on the diagram.
CYBG_TWR Bagotville Tower 118.65 The Bagotville control zone.
CYBG_GND Bagotville Ground 121.90 All taxiways.

Note: Bagotville is under the administration of the virtual Canadian Air Force

Noise abatement procedures

No specific noise abatement procedures exist at Bagotville.

Clearance

No specific routing restrictions exist in Bagotville. Flights to Montreal/Ottawa must comply with arrive routing restrictions.

All IFR flights are to be cleared via the Bagotville 3 (B3) Standard Instrument departure

Squawk codes

  • Internal flights (flights remaining in the Montreal FIR): 4530-4547
  • External flights (flights leaving the Montreal FIR): 0101-0127
  • Flights remaining within the Bagotville TCA: 0130-0177

Ground

Standard ground procedures apply.

Runway configurations

All runways are available for arrival, and departures. Check favourable winds for assigning runway in use.

There are no "preferred" runway assignments, but when you select runways try and keep taxi time as well as type of approach in mind. For instance runway 18/36 has no IFR approach, and 11 has no ILS.
A pilot may request a different runway and the request should be approved unless it would create a conflict with other traffic.

Departures

The Bagotville MTCU has the responsibility of ensuring the initial separation and release of IFR traffic, therefore a release must be requested from the Terminal controller for each IFR departure.

On Departure IFR traffic is handed to "Bagotville Terminal" with the take-off clearance.

Arrivals

The Bagotville MTCU has the responsibility of ensuring the final separation and release of IFR traffic, therefore the arrival time must be relayed when the wheels touch the ground.

If using IvAi in conjunction with FS to operate a visual tower viewpoint you may decrease the 3 nm separation of aircraft on final provided both aircraft are in sight. Aircraft conducting visual approaches are responsible for maintaining their own separation.

On Arrival traffic will be handed off to Tower once established on the approach, at or slightly before the FAF.

VFR traffic

Arrivals
VFR traffic will be transferred to tower prior to entering the control zone.

Departures
Assign a maximum altitude of 6,000 feet to all VFR departures. A higher altitude may be requested from Terminal.

Terminal

Departures

Bagotville Terminal may clear aircraft up to FL280 or flight planned altitude, whichever is lower.

Hand-off to Montreal Centre prior to leaving the sector, either vertically or horizontally, at least 2000ft before they reach their cleared altitude, to ensure a constant climb. See airspace diagram for the list of hand-off frequencies. If Montreal Centre is split into HI/LO level sectors aircraft clearing the zone vertically are to be handed off to Montreal Centre (Drummond sector) frequency 133.22

Arrivals

No STARs exist in Bagotville, instead civil arrivals should be routed to the Saguenay VOR (VBS) for vectors. Military aircraft will be routed direct the Bagotville TACAN.

Montreal Centre or Quebec Terminal will hand off aircraft to "Bagotville Terminal" cleared to 14'000 or as requested.
Do not vector aircraft through CYR607 when active.

PAR (Precision Approach Radar) is available at Bagotville, but as no appropriate software is available these are not available on IVAO. TACAN approaches exist as well, though unfortunately we don't have any charts available at this time.

VFR traffic can be restricted in the class D terminal airspace when workload becomes too high, however the VFR traffic is free to circulate in the class E airspace. In any case VFR traffic will have to make contact BEFORE entering the class D airspace (see VFR terminal chart).

En-route traffic

En route traffic will be handed off to "Bagotville Terminal" prior to entering the TCA. Standard hand-off procedures apply.

Manic (MC) sector

The Manic (MC) sector of the Montreal ACC may be delegated to the Bagotville MTCA when there are military exercises underway in the sector.
