Montreal Flight Information Region

The Montreal FIR covers the province of Quebec, and southern parts of Nunavut. It shares it's boundaries with Gander Oceanic, and Domestic to the east, Moncton, and Boston to the south, Toronto, and Winnipeg to the west and finally Edmonton to the north.

The airspace within the FIR is varied. The southern region is very intense with Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec, Bagotville, and a multitude of small aerodromes, and more relaxed to the north with most of the airspace below FL180 uncontrolled, and the flights from central USA to Europe in the higher airspace.

The Montreal ACC is the only Control centre in Canada to provide service in both official languages of Canada: French and English.
